Fair-Repairs

How Fair-Repairs works

Instead of calling around for quotes, you post your repair once and local shops come to you with their price.

  1. 1

    Post your repair

Describe what is wrong with your car, add the year, make and model, and attach photos or a short video if you have them. It is free to post and there is no obligation to accept any bid.

  2. 2

    Local shops bid

Repair shops near your ZIP code are notified about your job and can send a price and an estimated timeline. You can ask a shop questions in the built-in chat before you decide.

  3. 3

    Compare and choose

Look at each bid side by side, including price, timeline and the shop’s ratings and reviews. Pick the one you like. Nothing is charged until you accept a bid and pay.

  4. 4

    Pay, and it is held

You pay the bid amount through Fair-Repairs, processed by Stripe. The shop does not get the money yet. It is held until the job is done.

  5. 5

    Get it fixed

The shop does the repair. If it finds extra work that is needed, it has to ask for your approval and payment first. Nothing is added to your bill without your say-so.

  6. 6

    Confirm and release payment

When the work is finished, confirm it and the shop is paid. If the final price is lower than the bid, the difference is refunded to you.

How your payment is protected

Payments are processed by Stripe. Fair-Repairs is a marketplace, not a repair shop: the shop you choose is an independent business and is responsible for its own work. See our Terms of Service for the details.
